London & South East Education Group has today taken part in Social Value UK's national Members Exchange, speaking about the Group’s transformation from ‘just a college’ to a social enterprise.

Two years into its strategy, the Group has already made significant progress in its journey, having generated over £31 million for local communities in 2019/20.

Being the first further education provider to embrace social value as an essential metric for success, the Group’s rapid progress and innovation in the sector was recognised by the Social Value Awards last February.

As a result of this success, Social Value UK wanted its Members Exchange to hear directly from the Group so other organisations can learn from its experience.

Social Value UK aims to increase wellbeing, reduce environmental degradation and reduce inequality through advocating for the Principles of Social Value. They do so through fostering collaboration and the sharing of best practice with like-minded organisations.

Speaking to Social Value UK’s Members Exchange, Chief Transformation Officer at London & South East Education Group, Louise Wolsey, says: “We are delighted to share our experiences today. It is a fantastic opportunity for our Education Group to showcase how our approach can support other organisations to understand, maximise and share the amount of social value they generate, particularly (but not limited to) within a further education setting.

“We are very much on a journey ourselves and have more work to do – but can already see the clear benefits that this new agenda is bringing. Today’s event represents another step on our journey as an anchor institution and we hope to encourage more FE providers to adopt new and innovative ways to maximise social value within their communities."

London & South East Education Group has adopted the National TOMs Framework, to measure the social value it generates every year.  Please click here to read the London & South East Education Group's Strategic Plan 2019/2023.
